I’ve been using my car for travelling to work and claiming motor expenses of £0.45p per mile. I’ve just had the car serviced and the garage bill is £350.00. Can I claim that amount please?

Answer:  I’m afraid the short answer is “No”!  The allowance of £0.45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles in a financial year and £0.25p per mile thereafter is deemed to cover expenditure on fuel, servicing, tyres, road fund licence, insurance, repairs and depreciation, plus interest on any loan to buy the vehicle so no additional deduction is available for expenses of that type.
